Some fracture reductions require that the bone forceps jaws be angled from the handles.
Such forceps require:
1. A sophisticated hinge mechanism to allow the jaws to maintain alignment as they open and close
2. A special locking device which can cope with the laxity at the hinge
The spin lock and the special jaw make the instrument very nice to use but very expensive.
