Produktdetaljer

  • PDO is a sterile, absorbable monofilament synthetic thread made of polydioxanone for surgical applications. It is made from the polyester poly (p-dioxanone).

Beskrivelse

  • Properties:

    • Extended durability and strength
    • Excellent handling, exceptional flexibility, and good knot strength
    • Non-capillary, aiding in reducing bacterial migration along the suture line
    • Colored with D&C Violet No. 2 for better visibility during surgery

Indications: Monofilament polydioxanone synthetic absorbable suture is indicated for use in soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in pediatric cardiovascular and ophthalmic procedures. Polydioxanone suture is not indicated in adult cardiovascular tissue, microsurgery, and neurological tissue. This suture is particularly useful when a combination of an absorbable suture and extended wound support is desired.

Contraindications: These sutures, being absorbable, should not be used where prolonged (beyond six weeks) tissue approximation under stress is required, and they should not be used in conjunction with prostheses, such as heart valves or synthetic grafts. Polydioxanone suture is not indicated in adult cardiovascular tissue, microsurgery, and neural tissue.

Tensile strength: Studies of implantation in subcutaneous tissue in rats indicate that PDO suture retains approximately 75% of the initial tensile strength after 2 weeks, 66% after 4 weeks, and 53% after 6 weeks post-implantation.

Absorption: Absorption begins as a loss of tensile strength with no significant loss of mass. Absorption of PDO sutures is minimal until around the 90th day after implantation and is virtually complete within 6 months.
