Principles of draping
Isolation: Isolates dirty, contaminated areas from clean areas
Barrier: Prevents fluid penetration
Sterile field: Creates a sterile surgical field by aseptic application of sterile materials
Sterile surface: Creates a sterile surface on the skin which acts as a barrier to help prevent skin flora from migrating to the incision site
Fluid control: Channels and collects body and irrigation fluids
Equipment draping: Allows non-sterile equipment to be brought into the sterile field
